Svativsky District National Museum of Local Lore
The Svativka Museum of Local Lore has a long history, the institution was founded in 1962. Initially, the museum operated on a voluntary basis. In 1969, the museum was moved to a new interesting historically attractive building and renamed the "Svativka District Museum of Local Lore".
The museum building, built in 1888, is made in the typical style of classicism at the time, it was and remains the only building with a spire on the roof, which qualitatively distinguishes it from other buildings. Fedor Zakharovich Moroka built this beautiful and original house for the needs of his own family. The owner traded in grain, bought grain from landlords and individual peasants, had carts for its transportation and granaries for storing grain, which were located along the Krasnaya River, on Stolbova Street, to the left of the road to Kupyansk.
Grain trade was conducted only with nearby regions, F.Z. Moroka was engaged in exporting grain abroad, directing it by carts to port towns. With the construction of the railway in 1895, the goods were shipped by wagons.
According to the memoirs of Serhiy Vasyliovych Mumriy, who worked as a fireman for Fedor Zakharovych, his responsibilities also included agitating the peasants who brought grain to the bazaar to sell grain to the Moroka office for a penny more. The noble owner F. Morok even wanted to adopt 13-year-old Serhiy, but the boy's mother did not agree.
As there were no children in Moroka's family, they later adopted a niece. Anna Nikolaevna Krivoshiya, a native of the village of Nezhurine, worked as the girl's governess. In 2016, relatives of Krivoshia GM handed over to the museum a painting "Kittens", a gift for good service from its former owner Fedor Moroka. So the painting returned to the walls of the building owner almost 100 years later.
During the turbulent years of the 1917-1921 revolution, the Moroka family emigrated. After the nationalization of the property, this building housed various government agencies: police, orphanage, children's clinic, and since 1969 in this room (on the street Sadovaya, 72) was transferred Svativsky District Museum of Local Lore.
The above facts prove the antiquity and uniqueness of this building, built in the style of classicism in the late nineteenth century, today is a place where residents and guests of Svativshchyna and Luhansk region have the opportunity to learn about the history of the city and region.
