Geological monument of nature "Lamb's foreheads"

33

Geological monument of nature "Lamb's foreheads" - a business card of the village. Novoaydar as the geographical center of Luhansk region. This natural monument is a chalk cliff up to 50 m high.
Sheep's foreheads are a type of rock, which in ancient times were "polished" by the movement of the glacier and composed of protruding native rocks. Such "lambs" are found in different parts of the world.

They are common in Nova Scotia (Canada), the Scandinavian and Kola Peninsulas, Finland and Karelia. Novoaidar's "curly rocks" (as they are sometimes called) got their name for their unusual shape.
If you look at this geological monument of nature with an area of 2 hectares, it really looks like four huge rams that have become petrified, standing close to each other. All you have to do is climb Mount Baranyachi Loby - you can find small caves there - these are deepenings that were once used as shelters.
Once billions of years ago, the sea roared in this place. Now, only these marl deposits up to 50 m high remind us of the former power of the water element. They, like giant guards, continue to monitor how the world around them is changing.
