According to the original plan, the temple was to be built in the Baroque style, which was cultivated by the Russian Empress Elizabeth Petrovna, however, the construction of the temple was completed during the reign of Paul I, who was a supporter of classicism.
The name of the creator of the temple is not known for sure, but scientists are inclined to believe that he was a Tula master Kudryavtsev.
At the beginning of its existence, the church was wooden. It is known that the stone temple with three side altars was built in the middle of the XVIII century. There is a version that the church was built in 1756, and rebuilt in the late XVIII century, about which there are official documents. In 1791 the reconstruction of the church began. The reasons for the destruction are not known, but it is believed that this happened due to the peculiarity of the location of the building (near the confluence of the river Kamyanka in Aidar). The final completion of construction took place in 1802. The temple building charter has been preserved. And such painting and architecture have not survived anywhere in the country.
The church preserves the relics of the local righteous Dmytro Horsky, a local hermit ascetic who lived in a cave on the slope of Aidar.
The ancient building is of great importance to believers not only because of the saint. The church is called "prayed" because thousands of human souls have received forgiveness and blessings here for 200 years.
According to legends, Hryhoriy Skovoroda and Kindrat Ryleyev visited the church at different times.
In our time continue to restore the frescoes of the church. In 2008, bells were cast for the temple.
The church took second place in the project "Wonders of Luhansk region" of the LOT TV channel, which took place from February to June 2010.
The Church of the Assumption is included in the register of monuments of national importance.
