Khan's Pond Archaeological Site

One of the tourist "highlights" of the area is the archeological site "Khan's Pond". In the summer of 2013, the staff of the Archaeological Center "Heritage" of the Volodymyr Dahl East Ukrainian National University during a historical and local lore study found and localized in the village. Shepilivka, Popasna district, the location of the summer pond of the khans of the Golden Horde of the 14th century, which is the only absolutely unique cultural and historical object discovered on the territory of Ukraine.

During the excavations of the Kurgan cemetery, scientists have discovered burials of different eras, mainly the Bronze Age. The burials found are represented by different types of buildings: wooden and stone tombs, earthen crypts (catacombs). A total of 11 graves were found in the mound, coins, household items, fishing rods, fragments of military armor, huge cauldrons for cooking were also found.
