Vyshnevetska Yevhenia Mykhailivna

Excellent Worker of Public Health, MD, PhD in the field of breast cancer treatment

She worked for more than 25 years at the Kharkiv Institute of Medical Radiology and the Clinic of Radiation Pathology, and as a Vice Rector for Research. She has published more than 100 scientific papers on the treatment of cancer.

Yevhenia Mykhailivna was born on October 25, 1917, in the village of Miluvatka, Svatove District. After finishing school in 1935, passed the exams for the 3rd year of medical school as an external student and entered the Odessa Medical Institute, which she successfully graduated from. She worked as an intern in the surgical department. In 1941, she was mobilized as a specialist with the rank of a military doctor. Since January 1942 was in Poland and Germany, and in 1946 was demobilized. Vyshnevetska Yevhenia was a participant in the hostilities of Second World War, a medical officer, was awarded the Order of the Red Star and many medals.

Until 1952, she worked at the Department of General Surgery in Kharkiv. In 1953, she began working on her PhD thesis, and in December of the same year, she was awarded this title for her achievements in the treatment of breast cancer. On a competitive basis, in 1954, she began working as a senior researcher at the Ukrainian Radiation Oncology Institute. She gave 25 years of work to the Institute of Medical Radiology and the Clinic of Radiation Pathology. Soon she received an award of the Excellent Worker of Public Health.

She provided support to many of her compatriots who turned to her for help. She died on November 5, 2002.
