Svitlohuzova Liudmyla Volodymyrivna
She was born on April 6, 1936 in the city of Svatove. By profession, Liudmyla Volodymyrivna was a health and culture worker, but the embroidery became the main occupation and the meaning of her life.
After graduating from school, she studied at the Medical School and College of Cultural Education; then she mastered the profession of a photographer. She worked as a methodologist in the culture department of the Svatove District State Administration, newspaper editor, master at the Kupiansk Steel Plant.
The talent of this person is truly versatile. L. Svilohuzova herself is the author of subjects and artistic sketches of future embroideries. She is a winner of many shows and competitions, has numerous prizes and diplomas. In 1998, she was awarded the title of the People’s Master of Decorative and Applied Arts of Luhansk Oblast. Her works “Kozak Mamai”, “Kozak Slobozhanskyi”, towels “Kraplyna”, “Subotivski Vizerunky”, “Zamovliannia”, “Zirka Peruna”, and others were demonstrated at the First and Second All-Ukrainian Folk Art Shows. She was a member of the Regional Folk Club of Masters of Decorative and Applied Arts “Livsha” and the district club “Berehynia”.
The honorary right to embroider the Towel of Unity according to the All-Ukrainian National Art Action on August 14–15, 2007, was given to Liudmyla Volodymyrivna Svilohuzova, as one of the best masters of the region.
Liudmyla Volodymyrivna has always taken care of replenishing the museum fund for keeping the history for the future generations and has always been a member of the board of the Svatove District Museum of Local Lore. Her original works have the place of honor in the museum.
Lyudmyla Volodymyrivna is a folk master of decorative and applied arts of Luhansk Oblast, a gifted master of Slobozhanshchyna, a member of the regional folk club “Livsha” and the district club “Berehynia”. Many people admire her embroideries, which are exhibited in many places of Ukraine. Her works, i.e. embroidered paintings, towels, and shirts became the golden fund of the museum collection.
