UNICEF Ukraine

The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) opened a representative office in Kyiv in 1997. Since then, we have been working to improve the lives of children and families throughout Ukraine. In recent years, UNICEF has steadily increased its support for the Government of Ukraine in establishing health, nutrition, education and child protection programs. UNICEF advocates for children's right to participate and advocates for priority actions to help the most disadvantaged and children and families in crisis. Recognizing that the well-being of children is closely linked to the condition of mothers, UNICEF is also working to improve the health and education and protection of mothers' rights in Ukraine.

Priorities

The UNICEF Office in Ukraine continues to implement a program that reflects the country's commitment to achieving the Millennium Development Goals. These goals include protecting motherhood, reducing child mortality, stopping the spread of HIV / AIDS and tuberculosis, protecting vulnerable groups and promoting gender equality.

The program of cooperation with the Government of Ukraine consists of four components:

  • Advocacy, Information and Social Policy
  • HIV / AIDS, Children and Youth
  • Child Protection
  • Child Health & Development
