CARITAS UKRAINE
Caritas Ukraine is one of the largest international networks of charitable organizations in the world and in Europe.
The word "Caritas" means love and mercy, compassion and charity at the same time.
Over 26 years, hundreds of thousands of needy Ukrainians have received material, social, psychological and legal assistance through our work. The work of Caritas Ukraine is focused on 6 main areas:
• Assistance to children, youth and families in crisis
• Health care
• Assistance to people with special needs
• Social migration issues
• Emergency assistance
• Community building
Caritas Ukraine's mission: Development of traditions of charitable activity and social work, based on Christian moral and ethical values.
Purpose of Caritas Ukraine: Development and implementation of national programs to provide social assistance and support to the most needy population of Ukraine, regardless of nationality or religion.
Principles of Caritas Ukraine: Efficiency. Accessibility. Transparency.
Caritas Ukraine has won the National Charitable Ukraine Competition four times (in 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017) and has been the undisputed leader of the National Rating of Ukrainian Philanthropists for 6 years. In 2019, Caritas Ukraine became the first fund to hold the Honorary Award of Bohdan and Varvara Khanenko.
Caritas Ukraine today is:
• More than 30 regional organizations in 15 regions of Ukraine.
• More than 1,000 employees and volunteers.
• Helping the needy regardless of religion, ethnicity, gender or age, based on Christian principles and values.
• Hundreds of thousands of people in need, whose material, social, psychological and legal assistance provided by Caritas staff has improved.
• An integrated and systematic approach to solving social issues: we do not focus on one or two social problems, but take into account their totality, consistency and potential consequences.
• High qualification of employees, constant professional development due to participation in own and partner trainings, seminars, conferences; internship in Ukraine and abroad.
• Scientific approaches in social work, own research on the problems of medicine, migration, unemployment, homelessness, orphanhood and street lifestyle of children and youth, integration of people with disabilities, etc.
• Effective and practical social and material assistance, as well as active educational activities.
• Long-term partnership with both Ukrainian and international charitable foundations and public organizations, government agencies.
• Continuous exchange of experience with the international Caritas network, which has a history of over 115 years and unites 165 national organizations from 200 countries, with a staff of several million employees and volunteers.
