History of cooperation
Recognition of Ukraine: January 24, 1992.
Establishment of diplomatic relations: June 1, 2000.
There are no high-level contacts.
There is a practice of protocol correspondence.
In January-November 2019, bilateral trade in goods amounted to USD 10,000. Ukraine's exports to Ukraine amounted to USD 0.1 thousand, while imports from Lesotho to Ukraine amounted to USD 9.9 thousand. There is no trade in services.
There is no investment cooperation.
Cultural and humanitarian cooperation
In 2019, according to the Ministry of Education of Ukraine, there were 3 students from Lesotho in Ukraine.
Peculiarities of the country
1. Lesotho is the only country in Africa located entirely in the highlands. Its entire territory occupies above 1.4 kilometers above sea level.
2. Swearing on the street is not allowed here, as you can be considered ignorant. and it's bad manners.
3. The average number of houses in local villages is 10-12. If a flag is displayed above the house, it must be a shopping area. The yellow flag is for beer, the red one is for meat and the white one is for bread. The local beer tastes like our kvass and the main ingredient is corn.
