History of cooperation

Recognition of Ukraine: June 17, 1992.

Establishment of diplomatic relations: October 21, 1993.

In April 1997, H. Udovenko, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cameroon.

In September 2008, in the framework of the 63rd session of the UN General Assembly, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine V. Ohryzko met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cameroon H.E. Ayissi.

According to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, the trade volume of goods between Ukraine and Cameroon in January-November 2019 amounted to USD 28.9 million.

Cultural and humanitarian cooperation

According to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, in 2019 there were 463 Cameroonian citizens studying at the universities in Ukraine.

Peculiarities of the country

1. There is no such thing as a "Cameroonian" nationality - there are more than 250 different nations living here.

2. About 40% of Cameroonians still adhere to their ancestors' beliefs and cults (worshipping nature, worshipping animals, etc.).

3. The national cuisine of Cameroon consists of a variety of fish dishes, potatoes and fruit sauces. Vegetables and fruits are widely used: potatoes, cabbage, apples, sweet potatoes, dates, coconuts, papaya, pineapple, bananas and sugarcane.
